Not a great comparison (ok, it's lousy), but goes to show that the subject (and surrounding distractions to both subject and photographer) have a lot to do with the quality of the resulting image. Oh, and sometimes pictures you thought were ok end up being out of focus. If I really cared, I'd shoot several and pick the best, and could get at least one decent shot with any of the three cameras. I should've used flash on all three and should've re-shot the C4040 one, but didn't. I tried to be more consistent on the other comparisons.
